Now Let’s Continue with installing the Lync Server 2013.
20-10-2014 updated the guide to accommodate the installation of Lync RTM not Lync Preview
we stopped in the last article after we created our Lync Topology, now in the Lync Topology Builder
- Right Click on the Topology you created in the left menu and select “Edit Prosperities”
- In the Edit Prosperities page , Scroll down till you get to the “Administrative Access URL”
- Type the URL you will use to access the control panel >> https://admin.lyncdude.com
- and select the Front End Server from the drop down menu under “Central Management Server”
- Click “Ok”
- Right Click on the Topology Again and this time select “Publish Topology”
- Click Next
- Make sure to select the Front End Server and click “Next”
- Give it some Time
- once finished with no errors then click “Finish”
- now you can close the topology builder
- On the Lync Deployment wizard page >> click on “Install or update Lync Server System”
- Click “Run” under Install Lync Configuration Store, make sure âRetrieve directly from the Central Management store) is selected, it should be by default actually.
- Click “Next”
- Wait for it đ
- Once Finished with no error click “Finish”
- Now Step 2 >> “Setup or Remove Lync Server Components”
- Click “Run”
- Click on “Next”
- Wait for it till it finish and then click “Finish”
- Now Step 3 >> “Request, install or assign Certificate”
- Click “Run”
- select âDefault certificateâ and click on âRequestâ
- in the Certificate Request start page click âNextâ
- in âDelayed or Immediate Requestâ page, select âSend the request immediately to an online Certification authorityâ and click Next.
- Make sure to use “Select a CA from the list in your Environment” and to select your CA
- Click “Next”
- in the Certification Authority Account page, just make sure your account has Administrative privileges on the CA, otherwise supply different account credentials with administrative privileges.
- Click Next
- In âSpecify Alternate Certificate Templateâ, write down a certificate template name that you are using for server / client authentications, or leave it empty to use the default one if you have non-configured.
- Click Next
- Give the Certificate a friendly name, put your Lync Frontend FQDN as the Friendly name, check the box says âMark the Certificateâs Private Key as Exportableâ
- Click “Next”
- in âOrganization Informationâ page, fill the required information about the organization
- Click Next
- Click Next
- in the âSubject Name/Subject Alternative Namesâ page double check all SAN needed are in and click Next

In âSIP Domain Settings on Subject Alternative Nameâ page, select the sip-domain(s) you are planning to use in your deployment (in our case we are using one SIP-domain only)
- in the âConfigure Additional Subject Alternative Namesâ page, just click Next
- in the âCertificate Request Summaryâ page, click Next
- Make sure the correct “SIP” is added, then click Next
- wait for the request to finish
- once the request is a success, click âNextâ
- in the âonline Certificate Request statusâ page, check the box says âAssign this Certificate to Lync Server Certificate Usageâ, click âFinishâ
- The âCertificate Assignmentâ wizard will start, click Next
- in âCertificate Assignment Summaryâ page, click on âNextâ to assign the certificate to the Lync services.
- Once done, click on âFinishâ
- you should have a green check mark stating that you done it correctly
- no Highlight the âOAuthTokenIssuerâ and click on âAssignâ
- click Next, and when in âCertificate Assignmentâ page, select the Certificate we just created from the local certificate store and click âNextâ
- Back to the Installation Wizard, you should now see all previous steps have green tick next to them
- Step 4 and last one is to start Lync Services
- Under “Start Lync Services” click “Run”
Now you officially have Lync 2013 Server Std edition up and running in your Infrastructure.
