One Click Attach SIP-Stack Logs to current IM Session

Howdy,

This is another version of my original “One Click send SIP-Stack logs as an Email to Administrator”, in my first release the program is developed to collect the log files zip them then attach it to an email and send it to the pre-defined Administrator’s or IT-Help desk email, in this article I’m sharing a new version of the that program, this one is even better why? this one will collect the log file, zip it and transfer the file using the built-in “File Transfer” feature of Lync / Skype for Business.

This program was build with the wonderful help of Mr.Christoph Weste, All credit goes to him for taking the time to develop this important part that allow Lync / Skype for Business client to use the Share File feature to send the log file instead of sending it via Email. follow him on Tiwtter @_CWeste

One Click send Skype for Business / Lync 2013 SIP-Stack log to Administrator

UPDATE 06-Jan-2016: I uploaded the source code to GitHub for programmers out there, hope someone take the code and make it better for the community – a mention goes a long way 😉

Howdy and happy new year,

P.S. following paragraph is a serious of Bla bla bla you can skip it and start by the solid and underlined partSmile

a while ago customer with about 10,000 seats pointed out nicely to me that they are finding it annoying explaining to the users how to find, collect and send the SkypeFB /Lync client logs for troubleshooting, to start with as you all may have already seen in your day to day work day, some users find it difficult to enable “hidden” folders, not to mention finding the log file, zip it and send it, so he said why Microsoft doesn’t make it easy to do this task, we went back and forth in this subject but I realized I can help, so with my beginner C# skills I decided to write a very basic simple application that can be integrated into the Skype for business / Lync client action menu which I did and it has been used by the customer without big problems, and I decided to share it with the community, maybe it make your life easy too Smile

this program is tested with 64bit domain joined machines, download from TechNet Gallery

Side Note: this blog article was written using my new Lumia 950XL with OneNote and Display dock connected to it, how cool is that 🙂

Lync / Skype for business – LS User replicator Event ID 30020

Howdy,

During one of my regular on-site visit to a customer of mine, I ran into a problem with a user cannot sign in to Lync 2013 clients, whenever the user try to login he gets an error message telling him to check his username and password (Login credentials), although the credentials is 100% correct, he could never log in, interesting to say here is that the history of the customer’s infrastructure included an Active directory migration.

Skype for business Event ID 1047 LS File Transfer Agent

Howdy,

During a deployment at a customer site i ran into a problem with SkypeFB Edge replication.

After adding the Edge to the topology, installing the role on the server and enable remote access and federation i found that the replication is not happening, or at least that what I though.

Manually Lync/Skype for business Enabling of Active Directory contacts

Howdy,

We upgraded recently our Polycom RMX/DMA infrastructure which added the Skype video calling functionality as well as the presence for the DMA rooms in Lync.

According to Polycom official integration guide, they gave two options to enable the presence for the rooms, one automatic using a service account with Domain / Lync administrative privileges (which is not always an option for customers and was not an option also for my company), or there is the other way which is manual method which was not mentioned in the guide.

So I received a request to find a way to enable those contact as a Lync contact without giving this admin privileges to the DMA, if you try to use the Lync control panel you will face a problem when trying to search for the contact object you created and want to use. So following I will show the way to manually enable Active Directory contact objects for Lync 2013, to use it in whatever you need
